SCHOOL CULTURE

Schools can be fraught with conflict. Like any business, politics, personalities, and perspectives can create a climate that is less-than-conducive to a positive learning environment.

By intentionally creating a school-wide positive behavior system that provides both supports and intervention strategies, schools can build a culture of cooperation between all members of the school community: students, parents, teachers, and administration.

Our principal consultant, Dr. Julie Mougeotte Foster, been in the best and the worst of school cultures. Her experience with both harmonious and discordant school communities has informed her work as a classroom teacher and an administrator.

The first step to creating a harmonious school culture is whole-staff professional development on the school's mission and philosophy. Staff works together to examine their school's purpose and then to create or improve systems that support students, teachers, parents, and administrators.

Dr. Foster can help move your school through that process -- whether it needs just a little boost or a complete overhaul. She can customize professional development sessions to the needs of your school community.
